Started in 2010, the festival has been the event to strengthen cultural engagement and deepen the understanding of Japanese culture, including food, art, traditional music and performance.
On 28th February 2021, our festival will be held as “Virtual Melbourne Japanese Summer Festival” for the very first time.
The theme of MJSF 2021 is “Kizuna (ties)- We, together” which represents the collective hope of both Australian and Japanese people to overcome the Covid-19 situation and to enjoy Japanese culture online.
All the program will be streaming live from Deakin Edge in Federation Square and you can enjoy experiencing and immersing yourself in the Japanese culture here in this website and various social medias.
Along with dynamic Japanese Drum “Wa-daiko” performances, our popular Best Dressed Award will be held using social media. You will also have chances to join quizzes or learn Japanese culture by taking part in classes such as Japanese cooking, Ikebana(flower arranging), anime-drawing, origami and Japanese-tea.
Of course, your favourite “Raffles” will be back online with lots of prizes, and you will have a big chance to win.
Keep your diary open on 28th February 2021! It is going to be a fantastic festival.
See you soon.
